Starting in March 2021, the campaign in #dirumahaja or #stayathome has begun to be echoed. In the first week of March 2021, we initiated a collective project, namely COVID or COoking VIDeo with the tagline #shareyourfood. An idea that emerged from our community “Semaya”.
Why do we call it a collective project? At first we shared our feelings in the first week of the #dirumahaja or #stayathome campaign, a question arose about the word COVID that causing psychosomatics. We are trying to divert it with a more positive meaning. So we came up with an idea about COoking VIDeo by collaborating with our various friends from various regions from all over in Indonesia to make cooking videos that sourced from the environment around them. This Project Collective then formed a team of volunteers; video editors, content creator, graphic designers, finance. We made a kind of experiment to raise donations by selling farming packages for narrow land and aprons. We donate the to volunteers who are in need.
The initial purpose of sharing this video is to share positive energy when facing the Covid pandemic, as well as to provide information about Indonesian specialties known as an archipelago nation. The hope is that we can practice it at home, explore menus, share and care about the issue of food sovereignty around us.
We received 16 videos from all over Indonesia, 5 million donations were collected, and hundreds of people helped spread this campaign through social media channels. You can check on our hashtag #CookingVideo #shareyourfood #SemayaStudio. This process actually made us learn a lot about the meaning of Food Security or Food Sovereignty in the context of the current pandemic.
